Information about the monument: Salis and Rabi Madrasas are the two structures that form the boundary of the Complex towards the Golden Horn direction. These two madrasas have identical plans. Their names, “salis” and “rabi”, mean “third” and “fourth” in Arabic. Their slope towards the Golden Horn has created very pleasant inner courtyards, which are Sinan’s ingenious reinterpretation of the classical twin madrasa plan. Today, neither of these madrasas are in use and one is now undergoing restoration. The view of their façade is unfortunately obstructed by a number of unsightly buildings. Restoarion on the Rabi Madrasa was begun in 2005, to turn this building over to TÜBA - Turkish Academy of Sciences.
