How to reach the place: One can walk to this building from Eminönü or Sultanahmet. As you enter Türkocağı Avenue, follow this road past the Iranian Embassy and the Istanbul Lisesi, until you reach the Hoca Hanis Street which will lead to the Rüstem Pasha Madrasa.

Information about the monument: This Sinan building, with an unusual octagonal plan, was designed as a madrasa that was to serve as the seat of higher education, until the 19th century, and later in the 20th century, used as an orphanage, then as a university dormitory. It is today allocated to two different Foundations. In spite of these changes in function, the building has retained its original architectural characteristics to a large extent. It is now used by the Istanbul Science and Culture Fountaion.
