Since the mosque was built near the end of Sinan’s life, it may have been designed by Sinan but completed by one of his master-builders. It is known that Nişancı Mehmet Pasha himself designed the Royal signature of Sultan Mehmet III, which is above the entrance door. Upon the pasha’s death, around 1592-1593, he was buried in the tomb built nearby his mosque. The tomb has reached our day intact, with all its architectural features in their original state.
