Information about the monument: Nişancı Mehmet Pasha was one of the rare statesmen of Turkish descent found worthy of the position of Vizier. Since the mosque was built near the end of Sinan’s life, it may have been designed by Sinan but completed by one of his master-builders. It is known that Nişancı Mehmet Pasha himself designed the Royal signature of Sultan Mehmet III, which is above the entrance door. Upon the pasha’s death, around 1592-1593, he was buried in the tomb built nearby his mosque. The tomb has reached our day intact, with all its architectural features in their original state. The tomb is closed to visitors.
