Information about the monument: Built as the mosque of the Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Complex, it is famous as much for its architectural features due the way it has been ingeniously adapted to a sloping site. Many historians have declared the mosque in this complex as the most beautiful of Sinan’s small-scale mosques built in the name of grand viziers. Its fame is also due to the well-balanced and luminous interior of the building, as the clarity of its interior space becomes striking along with its attractive and multi-colored Iznik Tiles that cover the walls. Three small pieces of the Black Stone brought from Kaaba have been placed here. To experience the view of the mosque as seen from the entrance underneath the main classroom space of the madrasa is as dramatic as its fame implies.
