Information about the monument: Sokullu Mehmet Pasha had the Mosque and Complex built in the name of his beloved son, Kurt Kasım Bey, who died young, in 1572, while he was the District Officer of Hertzegovina. The Complex included a mosque, an imaret, bazaar, caravanserai, and bathhouse. Today, only the mosque, bathhouse, and the prayer dome at the center of the bazaar are standing. The Kasım Pasha Mosque is the most monumental structure here; it was restored several times from the 16th century to the present day. Even though the original colored stencil ornamentation and the calligraphic decorations inside have disappeared, it is still quite impressive, with an interior that reflects human scale and simplicity of the overall approach in its design. Its minbar has been renewed during several restorations in time. Its mihrab is the original 16th century one. Though the narthex is largely gone, from the column fragments that are still standing, it is apparent that it had a three-domed portico. The mosque is open to public during prayer times.
