Information about the monument: The Complex, built in the name of Nurbanu Sultan is one of the largest in Istanbul, demonstrating her strength with its size and complexity, also known as Eski Valide or Valide-i Atik. It is composed of a group buildings: mosque, madrasa, convent, boys’ school, caravanserai, bath house, Darülkurra (School for Koranic Studies), and hospital. A large portion of this Complex was used as a prison until recent history. These parts have now been reserved for the use of Marmara University.
