Information about the monument: Sultan Süleymanman probably had this modest caravanserai built as he was starting on his Zigetvar military campaign. The roof covering was renewed during restorations in 1965-66, converting the load bearing columns and beams to reinforced concrete elements. Following this restoration, the building was used as storage during sunflower harvest for a while. After extensive restoration and landscaping work in 1988, it was turned over to the Municipality of Büyükçekmece to be used for various public cultural activities. The building is open and can be visited during such public activities.
