It was in continuous use as a soup kitchen until 1918, and as the Museum of Turkish Calligraphy Arts from 1968 to the early 1980s. Since the early 1990s, it has been allocated to the Şadiye Hatun Medical Center for their use. Soon after its original construction, a minaret and a minbar were added to the classroom section of the madrasa, converting it into a masjid. However, the original minaret, which was destroyed above its base plinth around mid-20th century, was never rebuilt. The building is open to visitors; special permit is required for photography.
